Learn More About Dan’s Heating & Cooling
Wayne & Maureen Giles
Dan’s was founded by Dan McKinny in 1975. Wayne & Maureen Gile purchased the company from Dan on March 20th, 1987, and ran the business out of a small rundown building at 351 Patty in Wichita. The company came with 2 old brown cargo vans and a customer list. In 1988 the company moved to Haysville in a small strip mall off Grand Street, located two doors down from Noah’s Donuts, which they quickly outgrew. In 1989 Dan’s moved to an old house at 349 Laura St. in Wichita where they built a shop in the backyard. As they continued to grow, they landed back in Haysville in 1992 in a new industrial park at 260 Cain Drive. Dan’s remained in Haysville for 10 years, but their Wichita customer base kept expanding and they were in constant transit which was costing the company time and money. This brought them back to their location at 349 Laura in Wichita in 2002, where they demolished the old house and built a new shop. After 9 years of steady growth, they expanded into their current location at 242 N New York Ave.
With Wayne Gile’s passing in 2019, the keys were passed down to his son Michael McDowell who is the current vice President of Dans Heating and Cooling and co-owner alongside his mother Maureen. Enjoying retirement, Maureen remains President to this day. Michael’s sons Brennen and Connor are both licensed journeymen at Dan’s as well; making three generations of the same family owning and operating the company.

Our Team is involved in many organizations such as Wichita Area Builders Association, Air Conditioning Contractors of America, and the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association; Business Chambers in Wichita, Haysville, and Derby as well as volunteering or donating to Wichita Children’s Theatre, Catholic Diocese and proudly supports the American Cancer Society, in honor of their late owner Wayne Gile to fight back against cancer and work to find a cure. Dan’s is also proud to support the amazing organization CASA of Sedgwick County and donates annually to the Sedgwick Co. Sheriffs Food Drive and Benefit Fund to provide equipment and materials to the officers.
